Frustrated Trainer Commitment

I am going to blog right now because I have to tell you what I feel as a trainer. I am frustrated and tired of people not listening, not trusting and being afraid. At some point, you have to trust the advice that you have sought or you will not move forward with your life. The same thing that relationships are all about - nothing ventured is nothing gained. But I do have the writing on the wall, I do have credentials, and I have been doing training for over 25 years. So, why do people still don't trust?

I tell you what you need. I can tell you who is a walking time bomb. I can tell you what it is that you need to get healthy and get fit. But you don't listen.

Why? Why? Why?

A frustrated trainer!

I totally see where you are coming from. I think people are generally afraid to try things that they do not fully understand/believe. Some, may even lack lots of confidence. This is where your job as a trainer/coach, because this is who you are, comes in. You need to coach them onto the RIGHT PATH. With some clients you will need to be patient and push, push, push (gently, of course) until they succeed. There are people who will have very hard time acting on your advice, I say patience and they will come around. After all they want results and only you can provide them, but they still need to do EXACTLY that what you tell them in order to get there.

Ellen,

I can certainly understand your frustration. Know that for me (as I can only speak for myself), I do not question for experience and expertise. Sometimes life gets in the way of being able to do it all.

Perhaps that should be communicated more and well as saying to you that I appreciate all of your help for me and my family in the past--and will continue to value your efforts in the future. See you on Wed (MAYBE) or definitely on Sat. a.m.

Hope that helps!

Ellen,

People don't listen because they're too set in their ways. Individuals have to be willing to make that life change. I haven't been going to the gym but Niah and I have been losing weight because we've made a conscious effort to listen to your advice and change our diet. I try to eat a salad at least once a week and right now I'm eating beef, with broccoli. Nothing happens over night. Its hard to trust because you are not sure if what the trainer is telling you will work. It helps when you see other sucessful clients. People are always skeptical. We are always wondering whats a scam and whats legit. Your a good trainer. Don't get frustrated. Some of your clients did listen.

I can understand in full that frustration!! I think when I start to question ( I can only speak for me) it is because I am not TRULY following directions and expertice therefore the results are altered. I need (as a client) to work through the pain and be true to myself. When I question and don't trust it's because it is hard. I need to DIG DEEP and DEEPER and truly agree with myself that I want to change!
